Trials conducted with AgriNomix evaluated how to optimize flat-filler settings when using HydraFiber® mixes in small-celled containers. The work compared peat-, perlite-, coir- and HydraFiber-based substrates in 1006 and 804 cell packs, as well as 72 cell trays. Using a KVXL pot and flat filler equipped with a prototype agitator running at approximately 300 rpms, the team adjusted plow, compactor and drop settings to improve uniformity. Results showed that proper agitation and machine adjustments provided excellent fill with firm cells, strong tray coverage and effective performance through transplanting, while highlighting the importance of managing flow, moisture and transplanter depth.
