Michael’s Greenhouses in Cheshire, Connecticut successfully transitioned to incorporating 30% HydraFiber® into a preblended mix of 90% peat and 10% perlite using a HydraFiber Expander. The change, initially a concern for growers, has delivered improved water management, longer shelf life at retail and greater security during raw material shortages. HydraFiber’s Thermally Refined® fibers provide more available water while maintaining porosity, allowing mixes to stay hydrated longer and often be watered less.
